One guest was an incredibly active person. She'd just bought a new folding bike for her Goto adventure and had tested it out in the mountains of Nagano. She arrived in Fukue Island, full of energy, and spent two nights camping with me. Of course, she brought her trusty new bike with her, folded up and carried onto the ferry. Her Nagano experience clearly paid off as she was brimming with enthusiasm from the moment she checked in to the moment she checked out, making the most of her island adventure.

While introducing a variety of island activities, from Takahama Beach and other coastal areas to farming experiences, I noticed a spark in their eyes when I mentioned freshwater prawn fishing in the river. Goto has so much more to offer than just the sea and mountains. The rivers are amazing too! You can find fishes and eels, but for me, there's nothing better than deep-frying the freshwater prawns I've caught myself. It's the ultimate Goto gourmet experience. Seeing their excitement, I taught them how to fish for them and we had a fantastic time.

It's one of the best dishes on Goto island!

We were also joined by a guest from Bangladesh that evening. For our BBQ, we tried something a little different with a Bangladeshi-inspired menu. It was a truly unique experience, bringing together people from all walks of life. The food was delicious, with a bit of an exotic twist.

I love seeing our guests connect and share this space together. As the host, it's incredibly rewarding to facilitate these interactions. I believe that the most memorable stays are the ones where people form lasting connections.
